Shai's Story
Despite being diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder (5Q14.3 Deletion Syndrome) in 2011, Shaileigh defied doctors' predictions and learned to walk with the help of assistive devices like the Kid Walk and then the Crocodile walker. It hasn't been an easy road, though. For the past 16 years, we have navigated the complexities of the healthcare and education systems, while also advocating for improvements to government programs and policies. Inspired by our experiences, we established the Shai's Inclusion Initiative Foundation, which aims to promote inclusion, break down barriers to accessibility, and support other families and individuals facing similar challenges. Shaileigh's success is a testament to her resilience, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of others through our foundation.
